A restaurant that has more dessert options than mains? (18 vs 5 to be exact) Shut up and take my mula. Tastebuds, prepare to be overwhelmed.  In addition to providing high quality breakfast, lunch and dinner options, Strawberry Fare (dammit, even their name is delicious) is most well-known for specialising in an extensive selection of mouthwatering desserts – sweet deliciousness that will undoubtedly tantalise even the most stubborn of palettes. Nevertheless, there are some definitive must eats, including ‘The Ultimate Chocolate Dessert’ (Chocolate fudge brownie, chocolate mousse, chocolate ice cream, chocolate pate, raspberry coulis), ‘Devils Dream’ (White & dark chocolate layers, creamy & smooth, berry coulis) and the Caramel and Hazelnut Torte (possibly the best thing you will ever taste). Oh mama…excuse me while I slobber. Here, the word “Delicious”,  could not be more of an understatement. What’s more, Strawberry Fare prides themselves in serving organic and free range where possible and catering to a variety of dietary needs by offering; vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, dairy free and diabetic options too. Also, their iconic dessert menu is available ALL DAY. Yeah-ya, you know what I’m hinting: dessert for breakfast – heck, isn’t that what being an adult is all about?! (Just turn a blind eye to the Hagely Park joggers in order to minimise unnecessary guilt).

Arguably, post Earthquake, Strawberry Fare has scored the most epic location. Situated on the Carlton Mill/Bealey Ave corner, the two storey restaurant’s large glass windows overlook the gorgeous greenery of Hagley Park, stunning at every hour (dinner with a view? yes please). In addition, the glass windows allow for plenty of natural light which perfectly suits the chic black interior.  A sophisticated yet relaxed environment, Strawberry Fare is the ideal place to go for that special occasion, be it a romantic dinner for two or a family birthday dinner. Just remember to make a reservation before you go as they’re always busy busy.

PS try their creme brûlée, it’s undoubtedly the largest in Christchurch.
