I’m Youth I’m Joy

“Pan, who and what art thou?” he cried huskily.
“I’m youth, I’m joy,” Peter answered at a venture, “I’m a little bird that has broken out of the egg.” ~J.M. Barrie, Peter Pan
Not your typical he surprised me by making me a romantic breakfast picture. He made me breakfast because it’s been one hell of a challenging time figuring out our lives together and how we’re going to make this work with all the crazy distance – which made it that much more delicious. There’s always two sides to everything, and to a picture. I hope we can all rise above the tests and difficulties we encounter and to keep strong our faith. On a lighter note, he is the sweetest.
Outfit of the day: green-stone necklace form NZ, top, skirt and bag from Osaka, Japan. $8 shoes from H&M in Nashville, USA because my regular sandals had given me super painful blisters. Ring from a chain clothing store in France and watch from my sister and brother-in-law (NZ) as a thank-you gift for having hosted them in Japan last year. image-2-png-5

Such a delicious burger! I love vegetarian.
It’s a small world. This is the epic Persian (and vegetarian) food spread lovingly prepared by my father’s first cousin who happened to read here that I am in Nashville and invited me and my host-family over for dinner. I am so happy I was able to meet her, her husband and her beautiful daughter.

Zeppole Di Patate AKA the best thing I’ve ever eaten

image (1)
Yesterday I decided to cut sugar out of my diet for a month. A mere eight hours later, I gave in to zeppole di patate, a highly delicious (to put it mildly) Italian doughnut or donut. For once, I was/am lost for words. Imagine a plain donut (morethanamazing in itself) in mini bite-size form (perfect for shoving down gob) filled with chocolate or vanilla cream then presented one on top of the other, in a tower-like fashion on a handy wooden stick – aesthetic and practical! The taste you ask? Donut even get me started because I won’t be able to stop! These little rounds of heaven are seriously outofthisworld delicious (shit, I’m salivating into the keyboard). I have always dreamt of visiting Italy. You know, for the glorious architecture, the mouthwatering pizza margaritas, the iconic gelato and by all that, I mean the attractive0 (to put it politely) men but as of yesterday, the motivations behind my future Italian getaway were entirely revived. All praise the zeppole di patate. My goodness, even the name makes me hungry. Screw cutting sugar. It’s safe to say, these sweet rounds of dough definitely taste better than skinny will feel, ever.

I’m not sure where you can get these babies from in Christchurch (which is where I presume most of my followers reside) but in Tauranga, you can find this adorable trio (here I am referring to both donut and donut vendors) at the weekly Thursday night market in Papamoa, Dinner in the Domain; a lively feel-good market not only equipped with a variety of tasty eateries but also sporting a damn fine sea view – definitely a must!

One last thing, why is taking pictures of food so frowned upon? Am considering tattooing “I have a food blog, stop staring at me” across my forehead. Thoughts?

Foodporn and an Announcement

So I have some pretty exciting news… today, I finally created an I Accidently Ate The Whole Thing Facebook page! So, if you ‘like’ it (hint hint hint…HINT) you’ll be able to have even more access to my recipes, reviews and words (not sure if that’s a good thing for you, or not). Nevertheless,  to celebrate, here’s an image of my most favourite FULL FAT guilty pleasure: (from left to right) chilli chocolate, lemon curd custard and boysenberry custard filled DONUTS (is there a better word in the english language?! Perhaps; pancakes) which are available every Saturday from the Riccarton House Farmers Market (GO GET SOME). Oh mama, my mouth is watering just thinking about them. Last time I bit into one of these plump babies my whole front got covered in icing sugar! And the fact that I was wearing a black blouse didn’t help either! As much as I love my healthy eating (jokes, I just don’t want to get fat), I think it’s really important to occasionally treat yourself (emphasis on occasionally). So go on, indulge, your tastebuds will love you for it, your jeans; not so much.
