From left to right: kale and spinach salad with boiled quail eggs and yuzu peel, sweet potato frittata, potato and venison in tomato sauce and last but not least, braised cabbage with cumin. Top centre is home-made mustard mayonnaise. Oh my goodness. If Julia were there, she’d have loved it.

Fried little fishes, that were scary at first but turned out to be super oishi (delicious) and fried sunchokes aka Israeli artichokes.

“And don’t forget the wine. You mustn’t forget the wine….” – Julia Child, spy and loveable French chef extroadinaire, as she bumbles about her Cambridge, Massachusetts kitchen. I love to try to do vocal impersonations of her — all in lovingness and respect. My gosh, can you cook… And write!

I have to say I agree with all of those quotes! Those who love to eat absolutely are the best people and provide the best conversations!

“That’s right, Azemi. Encounters. It’s only through encountering people that cooks can move forward. If you face the dishes alone, you’ll only see your same unchanging self.” (Yukihira Joichiro in Chapter 104 of Shokugeki no Soma)
Of course, Jocihiro-san did not know Azemi. He was talking to his son, Soma. But since you are Anisakazemi, I shall quote it to you!
All your food posts and all the food manga I have read have fired up my spirit as a (anime) chef! Let’s have a food battle! Shokugeki! I shall stake the Golden Chef’s Knife bestowed to my family by the last Emperor of China!

“When will my reflection show
who I am inside?” – Mulan Fa
I’m watching Disney’s “Mulan” as I write this. I love the art of animation and Disney movies: Fantasia was a seminal experience in my childhood. I’ve worked in many things: media, retail, office. I was a sweet kid, a wild and crazy teen, a searching adult (I wish things had worked out better; none worked out as expected). I’ve been boring and adventururesome. I don’t know what to say. I’m my collective past and my unwritten future. I like to read and write. Now I’m no longer anonymous.

What do you mean worked out better? What’s wrong now? And it’s not too late! Unless you’re 100? I did a university course on children’s literature with a main focus on Disney. My lecturer hated Disney so much! Hehe but she did have a point, I learnt a lot about how Disney films have taken the depth out of fairy-tales (originally aimed at adults) in the process of commercialising them. Anyways, I still like Disney hehe. You are still anonymous to me! I want to know more ! You are a great writer and a lovely person for making me smile so much!

Joel Osteen, a Christian preacher, is on now. He’s talking about the Israelites praying from a slave mentality, rather than praying for abundance. Uplifting. Hope to find hope. Going to watch TV, go to sleep soon. I sent a story in for a sample to a home children’s lit correspondence course a long time ago…. There we go, again!

I enjoy your writing. You make me happy. That must count for something? A young girl all alone in the countryside in Japan feeling prejudice and loneliness becoming happy by you! <3 It's the little things, Randy!

I was thinking how you make me happy, too! Read my mind. I know it’s the little things. It’s just that sometimes the really big things can be too much. I’m okay, though. Thanks. Bringing home those messages is, one: you. Then, Dr. Wright just gave a sermon on changing your thoughts (being closer to G-d than to the world); the next was a mission in Africa, with children with extended bellies; now it’s Operation Smile. Not sleeping, but getting inspiration from positive messages. I try to make you happy (glad you think so, too). Thanks. Lots. Love Lufa’s cutting board, by the way. That’s gorgeous.
